GetMyBoat fees for charter companies, explained (2026)
Last checked October 15, 2026
The short answer
- Getmyboat (often written GetMyBoat) charges owners a service fee of 11.5% on bookings in US dollars and 14.5% on bookings in other currencies. It is taken from your payout.
- The renter pays Getmyboat a separate service fee at checkout: up to 13% of the rental plus a flat $20, according to its terms.
- For bookings you bring yourself, Getmyboat offers Direct Bookings with much lower fees: 1.5% for you (3% outside the US dollar) and 2.5% for the renter.
- Getmyboat collects the full price when the booking is confirmed and pays you after the trip.
- If the renter cancels, Getmyboat keeps its service fees. Your cancellation policy decides the rest.
- Getmyboat's customers must pay through Getmyboat. Many charter companies keep their listing for the customers it brings, and take direct bookings on their own booking page as well.
How Getmyboat charges
Your side: the owner service fee
Getmyboat's help center is clear: "Owner service fees are 11.5% on USD currency transactions and 14.5% on all other currency transactions."
The extra 3% for other currencies "covers the cost of exchange rate fee processing", in Getmyboat's words.
The fee is a percentage of the price you charge the customer, and it "is deducted upon your payout". Getmyboat's own example: on a $200 offer, you are paid $177, or $171 as an international owner.
If you're paid by PayPal, PayPal may charge its own fees on top. Owners in the European Union must include VAT in their price.
The renter's side: the service fee
The renter pays a service fee on top of your price. Getmyboat's terms say: "We charge a service fee of up to 13% of the total rental and a flat $20 USD service fee".
For other currencies, the terms add "a conversion fee of 3% of the total rental". Getmyboat's How it works page gives a simpler version: 13% for US dollar bookings and 16% for other currencies, without the flat $20. The example below follows the terms.
The renter's fee doesn't come out of what you receive, but it raises the total the renter sees.
Direct bookings: Getmyboat's lower fees
Getmyboat also handles bookings it didn't find for you, at much lower fees. With its Charge tool, you create a Direct Booking for a customer who came by phone, your website or social media. With Checkout (April 2025), you put a Getmyboat booking link on your own website.
Getmyboat's help center says that for Direct Bookings using Charge, owners "only pay a 1.5% fee for domestic U.S. transactions or 3% service fee for international fees. The renter pays 2.5%". The terms set a $5 minimum on the renter's fee. Getmyboat explains: "We didn't generate this lead for you, so we are keeping our fees low."
Direct Bookings are paid out the same way as standard Getmyboat bookings, after the trip.
Extras are different. Add-ons collected with Charge carry the full fees: 11.5% (or 14.5%) for you, and 13% (or 16%) for the renter.
Captains
Getmyboat's Captain Cost option is "designed with bareboat charters in mind": the renter pays once, and Getmyboat pays you and the captain separately. Since 20 May 2026, "5% is deducted from the captain's payout". If the captain is part of your crew and included in your price, the owner service fee applies to your whole price.
When you get paid
Getmyboat charges the renter's card in full when the booking is confirmed, and holds the money until the trip is over. The help center says payouts are processed "once we have confirmed the excursion has been successfully completed. Usually within no more than 48 hours". Funds then take 2–10 business days to reach you, depending on your bank and payout method (bank transfer or PayPal).
The terms say something stricter: "Payment to Members for accepted bookings will be made net 30 days from the date of the completed reservation." If you plan your cash flow around Getmyboat payouts, ask Getmyboat which timing applies to you.
When a booking is cancelled
You set your own cancellation policy on each listing. The terms describe three standard policies (Flexible, Moderate and Strict). Getmyboat honours your policy: if the renter cancels inside it, you can still be paid in part or in full.
Getmyboat's service fees "are always non-refundable", its help center says.
If you cancel, the help center says the renter gets a full refund, including the service fee. The terms add an owner cancellation fee, taken from your next payout:
- $5 for a rental under $100;
- $20 for a rental between $100 and $250;
- $50 for a rental over $250.
If you cancel for a reason other than the weather or the renter's safety, the terms say you are charged the renter's Transaction Fee as well.
A worked example
A full-day charter with a captain, priced at $1,000 on Getmyboat. The owner fee figures come from Getmyboat's help center. The renter's fee is an estimate of the maximum, based on the terms: up to 13% plus $20, and 3% more for other currencies. Taxes and rounding are left out. For an international owner, read the amounts in your own currency.
| Getmyboat | In US dollars | International owner |
|---|---|---|
| Your price | $1,000 | $1,000 |
| Service fee paid by the renter, up to | $150 | $180 |
| What the renter pays, up to | $1,150 | $1,180 |
| Getmyboat's owner service fee | −$115 (11.5%) | −$145 (14.5%) |
| What you receive | $885 | $855 |
The same charter as a Getmyboat Direct Booking costs you 1.5% ($15, so you receive $985), and the renter pays 2.5% ($25). That is for a customer you brought yourself.
The same charter, booked on your own booking page with Noliser:
| Noliser | Guests pay the 5% | You pay the 5% |
|---|---|---|
| Your price | $1,000 | $1,000 |
| Noliser's 5% | $50, added to what the guest pays | $50, from your payout |
| What the guest pays | $1,050 | $1,000 |
| What you receive | $1,000, less Stripe's card processing fee | $950, less Stripe's card processing fee |
Stripe's card processing fees depend on the card and the country, and apply to every card payment you take with Stripe. Getmyboat says its Direct Booking fees already cover card processing.
The services aren't the same. Getmyboat brings you customers who search its site, and its Direct Bookings run through Getmyboat. Noliser doesn't bring customers: it takes bookings and payments from customers who already come to you, paid into your own Stripe account.
What you get for the service fee
Getmyboat's own pages point to what the fee pays for:
- Customers you wouldn't reach alone. Getmyboat calls itself "the world's largest boat rental & water experience marketplace". Its help center reports over 180,000 watercraft in more than 9,400 locations, and 2.5 million unique visitors a year sending more than 100,000 booking requests (figures last edited in May 2024).
- Payments and fraud checks. Getmyboat charges the renter in full upfront, verifies renters' identity and screens cards. It says it takes on the chargeback risk for bookings made through it.
- A security allowance. You set an amount on your listing. Getmyboat can charge the renter's card up to that amount after the trip, if you make a valid claim.
- Reviews. Only customers who book through Getmyboat can review you there.
- Support. Getmyboat runs customer support 24/7, by phone and email.
Getmyboat doesn't offer insurance, according to its help center.
Getmyboat and Boatsetter
Getmyboat and Boatsetter announced their merger on 18 December 2025. Boatsetter's CEO, Michael Farb, leads the combined company. Both platforms keep running: "Both platforms and apps will remain active with no immediate changes for consumers, owners or operators."
For boats listed on both, Getmyboat's help center (June 2026) says their calendars are now synced automatically. It adds that the two "now have aligned fees".
When a listing is worth it, and when direct bookings make more sense
A listing is worth it when:
- you need customers you can't reach yet, such as visitors from other states or countries;
- your boats have empty days you can't fill yourself;
- you want Getmyboat to handle payments, fraud checks and renter support.
Direct bookings make more sense when:
- customers already find you: on Google, Instagram, in your harbour, or through hotels;
- you want the payment to go straight to your own account;
- you want to keep the service fee on the bookings you could have taken yourself.
Many charter companies do both.
Using both: your listing and your own booking page
You can keep your Getmyboat listing and take direct bookings on your own booking page with Noliser.
- One price to know. Noliser charges 5% per online booking, which guests can pay. Stripe's card processing fees apply. See Pricing.
- Your money, your account. Guests pay into your own Stripe account.
- Your calendar, kept by hand for Getmyboat. Getmyboat's help center says it "does not provide a URL linking option for calendar integration", so its calendar can't be synced through an iCal link. When a Getmyboat booking comes in, block that time in Noliser with Block time. When you take a booking in Noliser, block the same time on your Getmyboat calendar.
Questions
What fee does Getmyboat charge boat owners?
11.5% on bookings in US dollars and 14.5% on bookings in other currencies, taken from your payout. Direct Bookings you bring yourself cost 1.5% (3% outside the US dollar).
Who pays the renter's service fee?
The renter, on top of your price. Getmyboat's terms set it at up to 13% of the rental plus a flat $20, with 3% more for currency conversion. It doesn't come out of what you receive.
Does Getmyboat refund its fees if the renter cancels?
No. Its service fees are non-refundable. Your own cancellation policy decides how much of your price the renter gets back.
Can I invite Getmyboat customers to book with me directly next time?
Not outside Getmyboat. Its terms forbid circumventing the platform, and its help center says payments must stay on Getmyboat. For returning customers, Getmyboat suggests its Direct Booking tool.
Does Noliser sync with Getmyboat's calendar?
Not automatically. Getmyboat doesn't provide a calendar link to sync with. Block Getmyboat bookings in Noliser with Block time, and block Noliser bookings on Getmyboat.
Does Noliser replace Getmyboat?
No. Noliser is your own booking page, booking links and booking management. It doesn't bring you customers the way a marketplace does.
What does Noliser cost?
5% per online booking, which guests can pay. Stripe's card processing fees apply. Bookings you enter yourself carry no fee.
